Design Manager - Power

We’re looking for an experienced Design Manager to join our Power team and play a key role in leading multi-disciplinary design delivery across major power infrastructure projects.

The Role

As a Design Manager, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of design phases across a portfolio of energy projects. You will work closely with project managers, technical specialists, and clients to ensure design outcomes are fully integrated, technically robust, and aligned with project objectives.

You Will Be Responsible For

Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams across concept, preliminary, detailed design and construction stagesManaging design programs, budgets, risks, internal and external interfaces and quality processesProvide technical guidance and drive decision making throughout all stages of designWorking closely with clients, project managers and engineering leads to define design scope and deliverablesFacilitating design workshops, peer reviews and design assurance activitiesSupporting bids and proposals, including defining design strategy and methodologyContributing to the growth and capability development of the Energy design community within Beca

About You

You’re a collaborative and solutions-focused design leader who thrives in complex project environments. You bring a strong technical understanding of the power industry and a track record of successful design management on large-scale infrastructure projects.

You Will Have

Significant experience working in the energy / power sector (e.g. transmission, distribution, substations, HV infrastructure, generation, or renewables)Proven experience as a Design Manager, Design Lead, or similar role on multi-disciplinary engineering projectsStrong understanding of engineering design processes, inter-disciplinary coordination, problem-solving, design assurance, and quality managementExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to navigate complex interfaces across disciplines, contractors, and clientsRelevant tertiary qualifications in engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related)
