About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Plant Operator / Excavator Operator to join our growing team on a full-time basis.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll primarily operate plant and equipment across a range of civil construction projects. When machinery isn’t required, you’ll be expected to jump in and assist the crew with general labouring duties to help keep projects running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate excavators and other civil construction plant and equipment.

• Set out, excavate and install industrial foundations.

• Install and strip formwork associated with concrete foundations.

• Place and finish concrete for industrial foundation works.

• Excavate and install conduit for electrical sub-main trenching.

• Assist with hauling and installation of sub-main cabling.

• Carry out detailed excavation, trenching, footings and bulk earthworks.

• Read and interpret construction plans where required.

• Complete daily pre-start inspections and basic plant maintenance.

• Work collaboratively with supervisors and ground crews.

• Assist with general labouring and site duties as required.

• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.

• Comply with all WHS policies, procedures and site requirements.
  

Essential Requirements

• Demonstrated experience operating excavators within the civil construction industry.

• Demonstrated experience setting out, excavating and constructing industrial foundations.

• Demonstrated experience installing conduit and assisting with sub-main electrical infrastructure works.

• Current White Card.

• Verification of Competency (VOC) for Excavator operations.

• Verification of Competency (VOC) for Skid Steer and/or Articulated Haul Truck (highly desirable).

• Strong understanding of safe work practices and WHS requirements.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Reliable, punctual and committed to producing quality work.

• Current Australian Driver’s Licence.

Highly Regarded

The following will be viewed favourably:

• Experience delivering industrial foundation and electrical infrastructure projects.

• Ability to read plans, set out works and work to levels.

• Experience working around live underground services.

• Availability to work overtime and Saturdays as required.

• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.

• Willingness to assist with labouring and support the wider crew when required.

• Commitment to maintaining plant and equipment to a high standard.
