These positions include some evening and weekend shifts.
About the Role
Yarra Plenty Regional Library has an exciting opportunity for two permanent part-time Senior Customer Service and Events Officers at our new Heidelberg West Library.
This role is focused on delivering exceptional customer service, providing high-quality library and information services, and supporting engaging programs and events that connect our community with the library.
As one of YPRL's newest branches, Heidelberg West Library is continuing to build strong community connections and establish itself as a welcoming and inclusive hub. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of a growing library service and make a meaningful impact in a diverse and vibrant community.
This position also requires the delivery of regular Storytimes.
What you'll do
Deliver outstanding customer service and respond to a wide range of information and reference enquiries.
Provide Readers' Advisory services and promote a love of reading.
Perform core library operations, including circulation and collection maintenance.
Support displays, promotions, book groups and initiatives that drive membership and community engagement.
Create and maintain branch communications in line with YPRL's Brand and Style Guide.
Coordinate and support the planning, delivery and promotion of library programs and events.
Manage community room bookings and associated logistics.
Confidently navigate challenging situations with empathy, professionalism and a solutions-focused approach.
Deliver Storytimes as part of branch programming.
About You
You are a customer-focused and community-minded professional with qualifications in Library and Information Studies, Marketing and Communications, Event Planning, or equivalent experience.
You bring:
A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and experience working in a library or similar customer service environment.
Strong knowledge of library services, collections and resources.
Excellent Readers' Advisory skills and a genuine enthusiasm for reading.
Strong digital skills, including Microsoft Office, social media platforms and content creation.
Experience with Canva and an understanding of design principles.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities. Knowledge of, and experience working with, First Nations and Somali communities will be highly regarded.
The confidence to manage challenging situations professionally, including responding to Occupational Violence and Aggression incidents.
Most importantly, you are adaptable, approachable and committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging library experience for everyone.
