We provide strategic design services that create positive change in the built environment, with studios in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and projects spanning Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, the UK, China and Saudi Arabia.
The RoleWe're looking for a Spatial Strategist with a background in interior design to join our Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane or London studios and help shape the thinking behind the physical spaces our clients bring to life. If you've spent your career designing considered, buildable interiors and are ready to step back from the drawing board to shape strategy — briefs, principles and frameworks that guide design teams — this is for you. You'll work across health, education, transport, aviation and civic projects, bringing your material, spatial and buildability instincts into research, stakeholder engagement and high-level spatial thinking that sets design teams up for success.
What You'll Do* Develop interior design strategies for precincts, campuses, health facilities and public realm projects* Work closely with the design team and Project Directors to ensure signage and experience outcomes are fully integrated and aligned to the strategic project principles and requirements.* Coordinate with architects, engineers and specialist consultants through strategic and design development and delivery* Support site visits, contractor coordination and quality review during construction* About You* 2–3 years' experience in commercial, health, education or public realm interiors* Strong writing skills and critical l thinking* Confident communicator, comfortable presenting concepts to clients and collaborating across disciplines* A genuine interest in how interiors, wayfinding and experience design work together to shape how people feel in a spaceWhat We Offer* The chance to some of Australia's most significant public realm and infrastructure projects* A genuinely interdisciplinary studio — interior designers, wayfinding designers, industrial designers and strategists working side by side* Flexible, hybrid working across our studios* A collaborative, high-performing culture with real support and growth opportunities* Involvement in a carbon-neutral, purpose-driven practice, including our ongoing ocean plastic contribution programHow to ApplySend your CV and portfolio to jobs@buronorth.com, or reach out via the contact form at buronorth.com.
