Grounds Person

Join our team on Christmas Island as a Grounds Person, supporting grounds maintenance and land management activities under supervision.

We're seeking a motivated Grounds person to help maintain safe, attractive, and well-presented outdoor environments while contributing to the smooth operation of the Northwest Point Immigration Detention Centre.

Working under the guidance of the Leading Hand (Land Management), you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services, ensuring gardens, landscaped areas, and outdoor spaces are maintained to a professional standard. Key Responsibilities

• Maintain site grounds, gardens, and landscaped areas to a high standard.
• Follow Downer's Zero Harm principles and proactively identify and report hazards.
• Conduct routine inspections and ensure compliance with Defence requirements and relevant standards.
• Accurately record works completed, inspections, and performance data.
• Deliver grounds maintenance services in line with contract, quality, and performance targets.
• Collaborate with supervisors, team members, and subcontractors to ensure safe and effective service delivery.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Certificate III in Horticulture or a related field (desirable).
• Current White Card (Construction Induction).
• Current and valid Driver Licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
