Safety Coordinator

• 8/6 roster supporting a workforce of approximately 200 personnel
• Strengthen safety systems, risk management and site governance
• Contract role with a view to permanent employment

You will join a complex mining and processing operation in North Queensland, providing site-based safety leadership across a workforce of approximately 200 personnel. Working on an 8/6 roster, you will play a key role in strengthening safety systems, processes, governance and risk management across the operation.

You will work closely with operational teams and multiple contractors, supporting effective safety performance and ensuring robust processes are embedded across the site. You will need to work confidently through complex operational environments, bring structure and consistency to existing systems, and operate with a high level of autonomy.

This is initially a contract opportunity with a view to permanent employment. Candidates based in Townsville, Mackay or Brisbane will be considered, with the role suited to someone who brings strong mining or metals experience and a practical, systems-focused approach to site safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide site-based safety leadership across mining and processing operations
- Strengthen and improve existing safety systems, processes and governance
- Lead risk management, assessments and critical control processes
- Support operational teams to identify and manage safety risks
- Oversee contractor safety performance and compliance
- Work collaboratively with multiple contractors across site operations
- Navigate complex processes and operational environments effectively
- Promote consistent safety standards and practices across the site
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reporting and assurance processes

About you
- Experienced Safety Advisor or Safety Coordinator from a mining environment
- Strong background in metals, mining or processing operations
- Underground mining experience is highly desirable
- Strong capability across safety systems, risk and governance
- Confident managing and engaging with multiple contractors
- Highly organised with a structured and process-focused approach
- Comfortable working autonomously in a complex operational environment
- Experience with SkyTrust or similar systems is advantageous
- Based in or willing to travel from Townsville, Mackay or Brisbane
