Aboriginal Family Preservation Team Leader (Identified) - Tamworth / North West

Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation provides foster care to Aboriginal children & young people of the Macleay, Nambucca, Hastings, Manning, Armidale and Tamworth Regions. It is one of the largest Aboriginal agencies in NSW. 

We are now recruiting for an Aboriginal Family Preservation Team Leader to join our multidisciplinary team and work within a supportive community focused organisation.

This opportunity would suit someone with previous experience as a Team Leader wishing to further their career and/or background of Child Protection and is looking for a full-time role in Tamworth, NSW.

Principal Duties include but not limited to:

• Provide leadership and supervision to Faily Preservation Caseworkers, ensuring quality service delivery and professional development
• Monitor service outcomes and ensure families receive culturally safe, strengths-based, and trauma-informed support.
• Monitor service outcomes and ensure interventions focus on keeping Aboriginal children safely with their families wherever possible.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, funding agreements and child protection requirements.
• Support staff with complex cases, including risk assessment, safety planning, case consultation, and decision-making.
• Build and maintain partnerships with families, Elders, community members, DCJ, schools, health services, and other stakeholders.
• Promote cultural safety and cultural connection for Aboriginal children and families, ensuring practice aligns with community values and self-determination principles.
• Contribute to program planning and reporting, including data collection, KPI monitoring, funding reports, and continuous service improvement activities.

Essential Criteria

1. Aboriginality
2. Working knowledge of the Child and Young Persons Care and Protection Act (1988), and a proven willingness to keep up to date.
3. Proven ability to lead, supervise, and support multidisciplinary teams delivering frontline services, including performance management, supervision, and fostering a reflective practice culture.
4. Relevant Qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in Aboriginal welfare and child protection areas experience in Management.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
6. Self-motivated with proven effective time management and organisational skills.
7. Availability to travel as required.
8. Commitment to Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation's Strategic Plan, including the ability to promote cultural safety, strengthen community connections, and contribute to improved outcomes for Aboriginal Children, young people, families, and communities.
9. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, Ethical practices, and continuous quality improvement.
10. Hold a Current NSW Driver License and ability to travel to perform the duties.
