ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to our continued growth and success across multiple states, DBG Projects is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in Fairfield, Victoria.

This is a full-time position focused primarily on remedial construction projects, including façade and cladding replacement, waterproofing, roofing, balcony remediation, structural repairs and building rectification works.

Remedial estimating requires more than measuring drawings. You will need to understand existing buildings, review consultant reports, attend site inspections and develop practical construction methodologies for projects that are often completed in live and occupied environments.

You will work closely with our estimating, management and project delivery teams to prepare accurate, competitive and commercially sound tenders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review tender documentation, consultant reports, drawings and specifications
• Attend site inspections to understand existing conditions, access requirements and project constraints
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, trade scopes and tender submissions
• Develop preliminary construction methodologies, staging plans and project programs
• Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
• Identify scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions, risks and potential latent conditions
• Consider access, protection, temporary works and the requirements of working in occupied buildings
• Prepare tender clarifications, cost breakdowns and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with management and project delivery teams throughout the tender process
• Participate in tender interviews, clarifications and negotiations when required
• Assist with the handover of successful tenders to the construction team
• Support procurement and variation pricing when required
• Maintain estimating records and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our estimating systems

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who understands construction, enjoys working through complex projects and takes pride in preparing accurate and well-considered tenders.

You will ideally have:

• Experience in construction estimating or a similar commercial role
• Strong knowledge of construction methodology, materials and sequencing
• The ability to interpret drawings, specifications, consultant reports and scopes of work
• Experience preparing detailed estimates and subcontractor trade packages
• Strong subcontractor and supplier engagement skills
• Good commercial awareness and the ability to identify project risks
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft & Buildsoft/Cubit a must
• A practical, collaborative and solutions-focused approach

Experience in remedial construction, façade rectification, cladding, waterproofing, roofing or occupied buildings would be highly regarded. A qualification in construction management, quantity surveying or a related discipline would also be advantageous.
