About us

Paylater Travel lets travellers book flights and holidays now and pay for them in instalments before they fly.

That model makes us a travel business with a receivables book, a debt facility, covenants to report against, deferred revenue that unwinds as people travel, and entities in Australia, the US and the UK — with New Zealand being set up now. Finance here isn't a back-office function.

About the role

Our Finance Manager is moving on. You'd own the finance function's operating rhythm, reporting directly to our CFO. The work splits three ways.

Treasury and lender reporting — yours end to end

• Weekly cash profit reporting and forecasting

• LVR calculation and forecasting, including receivables reconciliation

• Cash management across all entities

• Monthly covenant reporting to our lender

• Invoice payment approval and fortnightly payroll approval

Financial control — you review, and you own the judgement

Our Senior Financial Accountant prepares month-end and the reporting pack. You review it and own the calls behind it.

• ECL and cancellation provisioning methodology and assumptions

• Net and gross loss analysis on defaults and cancellations

• Group receivables and deferred revenue treatment

• Balance sheet reconciliation review

• Cash flow reforecasting against budget

Statutory, tax and market entry

• Australian BAS, IAS and payroll tax

• US franchise tax, state tax and annual returns

• Review of UK filings

• Standing up finance and tax compliance for our new New Zealand entity — GST, income tax, and bringing it into the consolidation

• Annual statutory accounts, group consolidation and transfer pricing

Plus the build

Improving consolidated reporting across the group and, once the core rhythm is stable, scoping and leading our move from Xero to a proper multi-entity ERP.

You'll manage our Philippines-based Financial Accountant and partner with our FP&A lead, who owns the forecast that feeds your cash forecasting.

What you'll need

• Chartered Accountant — CA ANZ or an overseas equivalent. This is a firm requirement.

• 3+ years post-qualification

• Technically strong enough to review a close properly, because you've owned one

• Australian compliance: BAS, IAS and payroll tax

• Exposure to statutory accounts

• Real cash flow forecasting capability — building a model, not just reporting last month

• Strong Excel or Sheets, and Xero experience

• Full working rights in Australia

What we'd love

Financial services or credit-risk exposure — lending, BNPL, instalments, consumer credit or insurance. Worked in one or audited them, either counts. If expected credit loss, loss rates or covenant reporting are familiar, lead with that in your application.

We'll consider strong candidates without it. Covenant and LVR reporting is teachable and our CFO will train you directly.

Bonus points for hands-on AASB 9 provisioning, covenant reporting to a warehouse funder, multi-entity consolidation, deferred revenue where cash is collected before delivery, international tax, transfer pricing, ERP implementation, or managing offshore team members.
