Health & Safety Advisor (Civil)

HSE Advisor – Civil Construction | Karratha (Perdaman / Project Ceres)

C&S Drainage Contractors are looking for an experienced HSE Advisor to support our civil operations in Karratha. This is a hands-on role for someone who can step straight onto site, work alongside the crews, and help drive strong safety outcomes across multiple work fronts.

You'll oversee and improve HSE practices across our civil and earthworks scopes, working closely with supervisors, operators, and site personnel. The focus is on maintaining compliance, lifting standards, and keeping safety practical and embedded in day-to-day operations on a major project.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day HSE requirements across multiple work fronts

• Lead daily pre-start briefings to large crews (60+), delivering clear, safety-critical instructions that every worker understands and acts on

• Carry out risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations

• Develop and maintain SWMS, JHAs, and supporting documentation

• Ensure works are delivered in line with site and legislative requirements

• Run toolbox talks, inductions, and on-site training

• Provide practical, ground-level guidance to crews on safe work practices

• Identify improvement opportunities and help implement solutions

About You

• Sound working knowledge of WA WHS legislation and site requirements

• Excellent verbal communication and public-speaking skills — confident and clear delivering pre-starts, toolbox talks, and inductions to large groups

• Fluent, clearly understood spoken English, with the presence to hold a crowd and make safety-critical messages land in a noisy site environment

• Cert IV in WHS (essential)

• Construction Induction (White Card) and current WA C-class licence

• Organised, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-hazard environment

Desirable: incident investigation training (ICAM or similar), first aid, and previous resources or major-hazard facility experience.
