About the role
Elderslie High School, located between Narellan and Camden, is a comprehensive coeducational school (Years 7-12) with an enrolment of 812 students from increasingly diverse backgrounds. This includes 7% of our students identifying as having and Aboriginal background. Our broad curriculum is designed to cater for the diverse range of student learning needs. There us a strong tradition of academic excellence at Elderslie High School including the delivery of extension courses. Our students have the opportunity to engage in many extracurricular activities including sport, debating, dance, drama and cultural exchanges. Significant links have been developed between the school and surrounding community. Our informed and committed community have high expectations for student achievement and ongoing success in academic, cultural, vocational ad sporting areas. The school is an integral part of the Macarthur Trade Training Centre. The school features a Support Unit which has 8 classes in total, 7 classes for students on the Autism spectrum and 1 Multi- Categorial class. Specific Selection CriteriaApproval to teach special education and/ or experience teaching students with complex learning needs including Autism (secondary) and Emotional Disturbance (Secondary).
Demonstrated capacity to deliver differentiated curriculum across multi- staged classes that cater for a range of diverse learning needs.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated evidence of working collaboratively with a highly dynamic team of staff, families and the wider school community.
Proven capacity to cater for the diverse wellbeing needs of students in a Support Unit setting within a mainstream school.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
