About the role
HSNH is currently recruiting for a voluntary Committee of Governance position of Treasurer.
We are celebrating 50 years! of connecting and educating the local community. The volunteer members of the Committee of Governance work consistently to deliver good governance, financial stewardship and sound organisational capacity.
The Treasurer will support informed decision-making and responsible financial stewardship, with a focus on the annual budget and quarterly reports as supplied by the Finance Officer.
Leadership and experience in growing the organisation’s financial strength, philanthropy or fundraising will be an advantage.
It is anticipated that a time commitment of between 2-4 hours per month is requested from this volunteer position.
The role is supported by a Finance Subcommittee of the Committee of Governance, the Manager and a paid Finance Officer who manages the invoices, payments and salaries. The Finance Subcommittee meets four times a year, via Teams, usually on a Tuesday night. Minutes are taken by the Manager. This sub-committee reports to the main Committee meetings, where the minutes are reviewed and approved.
Committee of Governance meetings are held 8 times a year, usually on the third Tuesday of the month, from 6.30pm-8pm, at the house and via Teams.
Holden Street runs on a financial year with a profit predicted for the financial year 2025-2026 (yet to be audited) and a profit planned for the FInancial year 2026-2027.
The subcommittee creates, reviews and monitors the Finance Policy and major procedures for HSNH.
A separate Subcommittee supports the fundraising activities of HSNH.
We warmly welcome interest from individuals, Association members, volunteers, local businesses and community members in North Fitzroy.
