COMMON GROUND QUEENSLAND

Common Ground Queensland (CGQ) is a not-for-profit, specialist supportive housing organisation providing supportive and affordable housing to people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness.  We offer housing to individuals and families in both high and medium density single sites and dispersed site models.

Our supportive housing approach offers permanent safe and affordable housing that is intentionally linked to personalised support services.  Support services for tenants are provided through partner organisations.

The COO is a key leadership role, involving the following:

• Provide strategic operational guidance to the CEO and management team.
• Lead the planning and delivery of daily operations across the tenancy, property and security teams.
• Review, update and implement strategies, systems and organisational capabilities to enable delivery of high-quality trauma informed, culturally safe, supportive housing tenancy and property management.
• Maintain operational quality controls and management of risks.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
• Support organisational growth in line with the strategic and operational plan by identifying supportive housing opportunities through the development of strategic partnerships and collaborative relationships.
• Contribute to the development of budgets and monitor implementation of program areas to ensure they are in line with parameters.
• Support the development of a positive organisation culture focused on the best outcomes for tenants, building a positive and productive team and valuing continuous improvement.

• End to end ownership: You can confidently execute from implementation to executive responsibilities, identifying the most important strategic problems to solve ahead of time, then jumping into the details to get things done when you need to.

• Oversight of CGQ’s signature Supportive Housing programs: You understand and have experience in managing community programs across a range of locations.
• Technology Integration: You have familiarity and expertise in integrating technology to streamline operations and drive business performance.

• Adaptability:  You are very comfortable managing change and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key selection criteria

Essential

1. Degree in Management or related field.
2. Significant management experience translating organisational strategy into operational plans, priorities and measurable outcomes. 
3. Proven experience managing complex, multidisciplinary or multi-site community programs, with a commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe and person-centred practice.
4. Demonstrated ability to optimise systems and processes, implement technology, monitor performance indicators and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, productivity and organisational capability.
5. Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams, foster accountability and peer support, and build a positive culture focused on collaboration, learning and excellent tenant outcomes.
6. Demonstrated ability to lead effectively, manage organisational change and maintain service quality in a complex and evolving operating environment.

 Desirable

1. Experience working in a not-for-profit/community housing organisation.
2. Driver’s License.
