Summary of the role:

Lead the applications that keep a highly automated port terminal moving.

We’re looking for an experienced Terminal Applications Manager to take ownership of the mission-critical applications supporting our 24/7 terminal operations. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee their availability, performance, integration and ongoing development, with a particular focus on the Navis terminal operating system and its integration with Kalmar and ABB automation platforms.

Working across Operations, Engineering, IT and operational technology teams, you’ll ensure our technology enables safe, reliable and efficient vessel, yard, gate and equipment operations.

The Opportunity:

This pivotal role sits at the heart of a complex, high-availability operation. You’ll lead a team of application specialists and partner with Operations, Engineering, IT and technology vendors to resolve critical incidents, deliver system improvements and support the terminal’s automation and expansion initiatives.

Working at the intersection of technology, engineering and terminal operations, you’ll have the opportunity to improve system reliability, optimise automated workflows and shape the future application roadmap—directly contributing to safer, more efficient terminal operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing the performance, availability and lifecycle of critical terminal applications.
• Owning the configuration, optimisation, testing, upgrading and production support of Navis.
• Maintaining reliable integration between terminal applications, Kalmar equipment-control systems, ABB crane and automation systems, and enterprise platforms.
• Leading the response to major application and integration incidents, including root-cause analysis and preventive action.
• Monitoring application performance, transaction flows, interfaces and operational exceptions.
• Governing application changes, releases and testing to minimise operational and safety risks.
• Maintaining effective disaster-recovery, business-continuity and application-recovery arrangements.
• Applying appropriate cybersecurity, access-control, audit and change-management requirements.
• Managing key vendor relationships, service levels, licences and technology lifecycle plans.
• Leading, coaching and developing application specialists, analysts and support personnel.
• Maintaining a prioritised roadmap for upgrades, improvements and technical-debt reduction.
• Supporting new automation, systems-integration and terminal expansion projects.

You’ll bring:

• A qualification in information technology, engineering, computer science, automation or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Significant experience managing mission-critical applications within ports, logistics, industrial automation, transport, manufacturing or a similar environment.
• Experience supporting a terminal operating system, ideally Navis N4 or a comparable platform.
• Experience with automated equipment-control or operational automation systems.
• A strong understanding of systems integration, APIs, interfaces, messaging and data flows.
• Demonstrated experience managing incidents, problems, changes, releases and service continuity.
• The ability to troubleshoot complex issues across integrated IT and operational technology environments.
• Experience managing technology vendors and service providers.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• A calm, structured and safety-focused approach to major operational incidents.

Experience with Kalmar or ABB systems, databases and SQL, application servers, integration platforms, industrial networks, PLC/SCADA environments or ITIL practices would be highly regarded.

Working Environment:

Our terminal operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The role requires regular attendance in operational terminal areas and may involve participation in an after-hours support or escalation roster. Planned work may also occasionally take place outside normal business hours.
