About the role
Product Development ManagerAustralia (Head Office)At BioPak, every product decision sits at the intersection of people, planet, and profit. Across our four brands, BioPak, Decent Packaging, Huskee, and Bygreen, we design packaging that gives businesses a genuine alternative to single-use plastic, without asking them to compromise on quality, cost, or performance.We're looking for a Product Development Manager to help us bring that intention to life in every product we ship.
About the roleThis role leads the day-to-day execution of BioPak's product development across four core workstreams: Customer NPD, Supplier & Product Changes, Extensions & New Formats, and Portfolio & Range Optimisation. You'll lead a small team, work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, and Marketing, and be the person accountable for a product pipeline that's delivered on time, to quality, and with strong commercial outcomes.
What you'll ownEnd-to-end delivery of bespoke, branded, and account-specific packaging solutionsActing as the primary point of contact for the Sales Team on product mattersRange optimisation, artwork customisation, and customer cost-saving initiatives within controlled parametersProduct improvements driven by cost-out initiatives, material substitutions, specification updates, and supplier rationalisationClose-in innovation: new sizes, formats, and design updates that extend our most successful product platformsIdentifying opportunities to grow baseline sales through improved shelf appeal, product optimisation, and targeted range expansionRegular portfolio benchmarking and competitor reviews to inform range decisionsBriefing CAD designers and external suppliers on new product knifelines, with clear technical direction that supports fast, accurate executionManaging the end-to-end prototyping process, so samples are prioritised, reviewed, and signed off efficiently
Project & process excellenceBuilding strong cross-functional alignment across Product, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and external suppliersKeeping stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the product lifecycleImproving processes, tools, and workflows to support speed to market and quality of executionEnsuring every deliverable meets our quality, compliance, and commercial standards
What success looks likeAll four workstreams running smoothly, with clear ownership and strong stakeholder satisfactionSales and customers receiving timely, high-quality NPD supportPortfolio benchmarking and competitor reviews conducted regularly and shaping clear commercial recommendationsA capable, well-led project management team operating with clarity and accountabilityContinuous improvement in speed to market across the pipeline
What you'll bring4-7 years' experience in product development, project management, or category management within product, manufacturing, or supply chain environmentsExperience leading and developing a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentStrong experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams with competing prioritiesExcellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams and external partnersA commercial mindset, with a clear understanding of how product decisions drive business outcomesStrong organisation, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solvingExcellent communication skills, from day-to-day execution through to senior leadership reporting
Nice to haveExperience in packaging, manufacturing, or sustainable productsExperience working with offshore suppliers and international production timelinesFamiliarity with stage-gate or product development processesExperience with project management tools such as Monday.comExposure to portfolio management, range rationalisation, or competitor benchmarking
