About the role

New Farm Deli & Cafe is seeking a talented Caterer, Cook, Platter Expert to join our culinary team on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise in food preparation, catering operations and creative platter design.

Based in New Farm, QLD 4005, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional catering experiences to our clients, whether they're entertaining at home, at the park or in a corporate setting.

This position is central to our mission of providing high-quality, fresh food that keeps our clientele coming back.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to the highest standard, maintaining consistency and quality across all meals

• Design, assemble and present bespoke platters for catering events, corporate functions and private occasions

• Manage food preparation areas, ensuring kitchen organisation, cleanliness and adherence to food safety standards

• Oversee ingredient selection, portion control and food storage to minimise waste and maximise efficiency

• Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop menus and special offerings that reflect seasonal produce and customer preferences

• Prepare fresh ingredients daily, including chopping, marinating, cooking and finishing dishes

• Fulfil catering orders on schedule, liaising with customers to understand their requirements and preferences

• Maintain knowledge of allergens and dietary requirements, ensuring accurate communication with customers and safe food preparation

• Support front-of-house operations during busy periods and contribute to a positive, professional team environment

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a cook, chef or caterer, preferably within a deli, cafe or similar hospitality setting

• Advanced platter design and presentation skills with a creative eye for aesthetic appeal

• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, including understanding of allergen management

• Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and tools, including knives and specialist catering equipment

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail

• Excellent organisational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks and orders simultaneously

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team

• Physical fitness and stamina to meet the demands of a full-time kitchen role

• Reliable, punctual and committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences

• Ideally, food safety certification (such as Food Handler's Certificate) or equivalent accreditation
