About the role
This is a fixed term, full-time position commencing in November 2026 up until July 2028 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency
The School Curriculum and Standards Division provide administrative and secretariat services for, and implements the decisions of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). The Authority provides quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.
The Role
The Cyber Security Specialist - Operations is responsible for leading and enhancing the Authority’s cyber security operational capability across cloud and on-premises environments. The role oversees security monitoring, threat detection, threat intelligence, incident response and the ongoing management of the Authority’s Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platform. Working closely with technical teams and service providers, the position provides expert technical advice on translating cyber security policies, standards and frameworks into effective operational controls, while monitoring, auditing and continually improving the Authority’s cyber security posture.
The Cyber Security Specialist - Operations provides expert advice to management and executive stakeholders on cyber security risks, threats, trends and mitigation strategies. The role identifies control gaps, leads security investigations and supports the Authority’s response to cyber security incidents. The successful applicant will be able to understand business objectives and operational requirements, adapting security controls and risk treatments to balance security, usability and organisational outcomes while minimising cyber risk and ensuring compliance with government security frameworks and standards.
