About the role

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Machinist, or Fitter & Turner to join our Maintenance Team on a casual basis at our Bassendean site. Working within a heavy manufacturing environment, you will support site operations by carrying out mechanical repairs, installations, preventative maintenance, and breakdown work on a diverse range of plant and equipment. Reporting to the Mechanical Leading Hand, you will play a key role in ensuring plant reliability, production efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

In this role you will:

• Respond to plant breakdowns and production stoppages to minimise downtime.

• Carry out mechanical repairs, installations, and overhauls on plant and equipment. 

• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance to maximise equipment reliability.

• Use maintenance management systems (e.g. MEX/CMMS) to complete work orders and maintenance records.

• Ensure all maintenance activities meet statutory, engineering, and quality requirements.

• Complete work orders, JSA documentation, and maintenance records accurately. 

• Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

You will have:

• Mechanical Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Machinist, or Fitter & Turner).

• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment. 

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 

• Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. 

• Experience using maintenance management systems such as MEX or CMMS (desirable).

• Experience with reliability improvements, plant optimisation, or ISO 9001 systems (desirable). 

• Ability to use and calibrate precision measuring equipment (desirable).
