Chef

About the role

As a Chef at Lavender Estate, you'll work closely with the Venue Manager and Kitchen Team to prepare and serve high-quality meals in a fast-paced, café-style environment. This is a hands-on role suited to a motivated cook or qualified chef who enjoys working across all kitchen sections - from breakfast and lunch service to functions and events.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and plate dishes to consistent quality and presentation standards
• Maintain high levels of cleanliness and food safety in line with HACCP and venue standards
• Assist with prep, stock rotation, and ordering
• Support the training and supervision of junior kitchen staff
• Collaborate with the Front of House Team to ensure smooth and efficient service
• Contribute to menu development, specials, and seasonal updates

About you

• Holds a relevant Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience)
• Has at least 2 years' experience in a café, restaurant, or catering kitchen
• Demonstrates a passion for quality food and local produce
• Works well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
• Communicates clearly and thrives in a positive, team-oriented environment
• Understands and upholds food safety, hygiene, and workplace health standards
• Has flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and occasional evenings for events
