About the role
About Us
Pigeon Building Group Pty Ltd is an established construction and renovation company with over 10 years of experience, delivering residential and commercial building projects across New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. Our services include new builds, renovations, refurbishments and maintenance, and we work closely with builders, developers and real estate professionals to deliver high-quality outcomes with a strong focus on quality, compliance and client satisfaction. Completing more than 500 projects each year, we continue to expand our project portfolio and are seeking an experienced Architectural Draftsperson to join our team.
Position Overview
As an Architectural Draftsperson, you will play a key role in reviewing, preparing and coordinating architectural drawings and documentation for a diverse range of residential and commercial building, renovation and refurbishment projects. Working closely with project managers, architects, engineers, builders and other project stakeholders, you will ensure drawings and technical documentation are accurate, practical and compliant with relevant building regulations, Australian Standards and project requirements. You will also support drawing coordination throughout the project lifecycle by managing documentation updates and facilitating effective communication between design and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Role Responsibilities
Review and interpret architectural drawings prepared by external architects and consultants to ensure accuracy, constructability and compliance before construction.
Prepare, edit and update working drawings, construction details and technical documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.
Coordinate drawing revisions arising from design changes, client variations, consultant feedback and on-site construction requirements.
Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, certifiers, consultants, subcontractors and relevant authorities throughout project delivery.
Identify drawing discrepancies and documentation issues, recommending practical drafting solutions to support construction outcomes in consultation with the architect/engineer of record.
Assist with preparing documentation for council submissions, statutory approvals and construction documentation where required.
Interpret and ensure documentation complies with the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian Standards and project specifications.
Maintain organised drawing registers and document control throughout each project, ensuring documentation is current and accurately recorded.
Provide drafting and technical support across multiple residential and commercial projects, facilitating effective coordination between design and construction teams.
Requirements
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or higher qualification in Architectural Design, Architecture, Building Design or a closely related discipline.
At least 1 year of relevant experience preparing and reviewing architectural drawings and construction documentation within the residential and/or commercial construction industry.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
Sound understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards and relevant building regulations.
The ability to interpret architectural drawings and identify potential documentation or constructability issues before construction commences.
Experience working collaboratively with architects, engineers, consultants and construction teams to coordinate project documentation.
Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
A proactive approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within a growing construction company.
