Fitter & Turner - Machinist

We are seeking an experienced 1st Class Machinist to join our team in Altona. This is a full‑time position in a busy, well‑equipped workshop handling a wide range of components — from one‑offs to large industrial parts.

About the role:
You will be required to work unsupervised, read and interpret technical drawings, and hold tight tolerances. The role involves operating a variety of machines including lathes, mills, drills, and both vertical and horizontal borers.

Must be living in Australia with full work rights. No overseas applicants.

Key duties:

• Machining large castings, shafts, pumps, flanges, couplings, and threaded components
• Operating manual and CNC lathes, mills, drills
• Horizontal and vertical boring (experience preferred)
• Working across small, medium, and very large components
• Maintaining accuracy and quality across all jobs
• Working safely and effectively within a small team

• Ability to work independently
• Reliable, trustworthy, and a quick learner
• Able to read drawings and hold tolerances
• Works well with others and communicates clearly
• Borer experience highly regarded

Immediate start preferred, however we are willing to wait for the right applicant.

Hourly rate negotiable based on skill level.
