Fortescue is currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our Apprenticeship Team. Reporting directly to the Superintendent Trade Apprenticeships, this role is responsible for supervising, developing and supporting Apprentices within Fortescue’s Apprenticeship Program.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching and support to Apprentices, setting clear expectations for performance, behaviour and development.
• Coordinate Apprentice workforce requirements, including onboarding, leave, PPE, training activities, performance processes and other employment-related requirements within the scope of the role.
• Work collaboratively with Workplace Superintendents, Supervisors and Tradespeople to support appropriate work exposure and on-the-job development aligned with trade qualification requirements.
• Coordinate individual Apprentice rotations to support capability development, practical experience and exposure to the equipment and work activities required for their chosen trade.
• Liaise with the Apprenticeship Team, workplace leaders and relevant training stakeholders to coordinate training schedules, rosters, flights and accommodation requirements.
• Support performance and development processes, including scheduled performance reviews, ongoing feedback and coaching.
• Identify and facilitate appropriate internal or external development and secondment opportunities where required.
• Provide confidential mentoring and wellbeing support to Apprentices including recognising signs of mental health or wellbeing concerns, having appropriate supportive conversations and facilitating access to Fortescue or external professional support services where required.
• Promote a psychologically safe and respectful workplace where Apprentices feel comfortable raising concerns, seeking support and discussing challenges that may affect their wellbeing, training or work.
• Promote a safe, respectful and psychologically safe workplace by role modelling Fortescue values, supporting employee wellbeing, identifying and escalating safety or wellbeing concerns, and encouraging Apprentices to access appropriate support when required.
• Build awareness of the wellbeing challenges that may arise in remote or FIFO working environments and support Apprentices and Trainees to develop appropriate strategies, support networks and help-seeking behaviours.
• Build constructive relationships with operational teams and stakeholders to support Apprentice development and potential future employment pathways.
• Role model Fortescue values and support safe, respectful and compliant working practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience supervising, managing or mentoring Apprentices, Trainees or employees in a workplace environment.
• Experience working with Supervisors and Tradespeople to align workplace activities with training and development requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and support a diverse workforce to achieve positive performance and development outcomes.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide confidential mentoring, recognise employee wellbeing concerns and appropriately connect individuals with available support services.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust and support employee wellbeing within a diverse and potentially remote or FIFO workforce.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive and Teams.
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence, subject to confirmation as a role requirement.

Desirable

• Certificate III in Heavy Mobile Equipment, Mechanical Fitting, Fabrication, Automotive Electrical, Electrical or another relevant trade.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Mental health awareness, mental health first aid or other relevant wellbeing training.
