The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW, delivering a wide range of services to one of Sydney’s most diverse communities.
Opening late 2026, the new Canterbury Leisure & Aquatic Centre is set to become the heart of health, fitness and fun in our community. We are now recruiting Wellness Instructors to help deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality wellness programs across our Leisure and Aquatic centres.
The role
We are seeking passionate and qualified Wellness Instructors to join our Leisure and Aquatic Services team.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality group fitness and wellness classes, support members on their health and fitness journey, and help create a safe, welcoming and positive experience for our community.
You will deliver programs such as yoga, Pilates, reformer, Zumba or other recognised wellness classes, depending on your qualifications and area of expertise.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
· Deliver engaging, safe and inclusive wellness classes in line with Council’s programs and industry standards.
· Support members on their health and fitness journey through advice, encouragement and customer engagement.
· Maintain clean, safe and well-presented group exercise spaces and equipment.
· Communicate with customers about current programs, activities and services.
· Complete required documentation, including pre-exercise questionnaires and records.
· Respond to customer requests and feedback in a professional and timely manner.

You will have:
· Certificate for your specialist program, such as Yoga, Pilates, Reformer, Zumba or another recognised wellness program approved by AusActive
· Current First Aid Certificate.
· Current CPR Certificate.
· Current Working with Children Check.
· Fitness registration with an Australian-based organisation, or willingness to obtain this within 3 months of employment.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing operational needs.
· Evidence of full unrestricted working rights in Australia.
The hourly rate for this opportunity is $44.14, Grade E, Step 1, plus 25% casual loading and 12% super.
