Lift Engineer

Universal Cranes is a privately owned family business that operates mobile crane hire branches throughout Queensland. We have a fleet of 200 cranes ranging from 3T to 1200T, including minicranes, Frannas, all-terrain and crawler cranes. Universal Cranes began as a family crane hire business in 1993 and has grown to become a national crane hire company. We pride ourselves on maintaining a family business service culture while providing our clients with a national, high-capacity fleet. 

We are seeking a Lift Engineer to join our Brisbane based team.  

About the role

We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and commercially astute Lift Engineer.  Problem solve challenges on complex construction sites, designing crane lifts and interfaces on major infrastructure projects. Drive the business growth by contributing to quoting and tendering activity. The role will work within the contracts, tendering and engineering team providing efficient and innovative engineering solutions, live project assistance and contract/tendering administration.   

This role is responsible for, but not limited to:

• Deliver detailed lift studies and compliance requirements of the delivery teams. 

• Carry out site inspections, lift studies and lift planning activities. 

• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.  

• Ensure compliance requirements are met in lifting and engineering deliverables.

• Assist in preparing tender submissions including both commercial and non-commercial aspects of the response.

• Assist with pre-qualifications, including safety compliance, quality compliance, pricing and supporting engineering documents.

• Support commercial forecasting and tracking, including monthly reviews.

About you

You take a proactive approach to your work and can demonstrate a high level of initiative. In addition, you have:

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or equivalent. 

• Proficiency in AutoCAD  

• 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role or a Project Engineer looking for a Brisbane based engineering role. 

• Excellent communication, attention to detail and effective time management skills. 

• Strong client relationship and stakeholder management. 

• Commercially astute with the ability to review and interpret contract requirements. 

• Interest in the crane industry with longer term career development opportunities.
