About the role
Do you want to be a part of a team that promotes and improves the health of its people and community?
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly skilled Consultant Anaesthetists to join our excellent team of medical professionals in the Department of Anaesthesia at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH), Nedlands, Western Australia.
This is for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time , Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part Time appointments. Fixed Term appointments will be made with possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.
About this role
SCGH is one of Australia's leading tertiary teaching hospitals. Consultant Anaesthetists at SCGH provide preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative anaesthesia services for a diverse range of elective and emergency operations and procedures.
The 15 theatre operating suite at SCGH delivers anaesthesia care for all surgical specialties, with the exception of obstetrics. Consultant-led care is provided for complex tertiary and quaternary procedures, and frequently involves the care of patients with significant comorbidities.
Our anaesthetists are also involved in multiple procedural areas across the SCGH campus, including cardiology, interventional vascular surgery, radiology, neuroradiology, gastroenterology, bronchoscopy and mental health. SCGH is home to WA’s largest Comprehensive Cancer Centre, provides the state sarcoma service, and is also the state’s principal hospital for neurosurgery and neuro-interventional services.

In-house medical simulation is offered to all consultants, trainees and students and there is a comprehensive teaching and continuing medical education program.
In this role as a Consultant Anaesthetist at SCGH, you will lead the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist medical services to patients and promote patient safety and quality of care. You will provide leadership, orientation, training, supervision and education for doctors in training and other health workers. In collaboration with the Head of Department and other Consultants you will work to achieve national, state and North MetropolitanHealth Service (NMHS) performance standards and targets and work within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the NMHS Medical Credentialing Committee.
While your qualifications and experience tell us part of your story, your values and attitude speak louder still.
