About the role
Your new role
We have an opportunity for someone to join our Legal & Compliance team as Director - Public Law, Policy and Oversight on a 12-month, fixed term basis. Reporting to the Executive Director - Legal & Compliance, the role is responsible for providing high-quality legal, compliance and strategic advice to IBAC officers. This includes the Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Commissioners and others across the organisation. The legislative remit is broad and includes the IBAC Act 2011 (Vic), and the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012 (Vic).
The role also leads the team responsible for undertaking IBAC's external oversight obligations under various legislation, including the Crimes (Assumed Identities) Act 2004 (Vic), Sex Offenders Registration Act 2004 (Vic), Witness Protection Act 1991, and Firearms Act 1996 (Vic).
The role includes people management and leadership accountabilities, leading a mix of lawyers and compliance officers and contributing to the leadership of the Legal & Compliance Division.

About you
We are looking for candidates with the following experience and capabilities:
Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with IBAC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security clearance - Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance. For further information regarding security clearances, please visit the AGSVA website.
Victoria Police applicants - Due to a conflict-of-interest IBAC is unable to accept applications for secondment from Victoria Police employees.
