About the role
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of nursing services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
You will provide clinical leadership, coordinate resources, support staff development and oversee quality and risk management activities to ensure the hospital continues to deliver exceptional outcomes for patients, doctors and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Lead and support perioperative nursing services across the hospital
Promote excellence in patient care and clinical outcomes
Foster a positive and engaged team culture
Support workforce planning, rostering and staff development
Lead quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities
Maintain compliance with NSQHS Standards, ISO requirements and relevant legislation
Oversee risk management, incident reporting and continuous improvement programs
Support infection prevention and control programs
Manage resources, staffing and budgets effectively
Monitor labour and consumable KPIs
About you
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Minimum 5 years' perioperative nursing experience across multiple specialties
Previous leadership or management experience within a hospital or day surgery environment
Strong understanding of NSQHS Standards, ISO requirements and relevant legislation and accreditation requirements
Experience in quality, risk and clinical governance programs
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
A passion for developing people and improving patient outcomes
Management qualifications, or progression towards a management qualification, will be highly regarded
