About the role

Freestyle Air Conditioning is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated 1st Year Air Conditioning Apprentice to join our team in Newcastle, NSW. This is a full-time apprenticeship position that offers an excellent foundation for a rewarding career in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. As a 1st year apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians, gaining practical hands-on experience whilst completing your formal training. This role is essential to developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople and contributes directly to our ability to deliver quality air conditioning solutions to our customers.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting experienced air conditioning technicians with the installation, maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems

• Learning to safely use hand tools, power tools and specialised air conditioning equipment under supervision

• Preparing work sites and ensuring work areas are kept clean and organised

• Assisting with the testing and commissioning of air conditioning units

• Learning to identify and document faults and issues with air conditioning systems

• Completing routine maintenance tasks on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment

• Attending trade college or registered training organisation (RTO) for classroom-based theoretical instruction as part of your apprenticeship

• Following health and safety procedures and maintaining compliance with industry regulations

• Contributing to the team environment and supporting colleagues when required

What we're looking for

• A genuine interest in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry and a desire to develop a long-term career in the trades

• Year 10 or equivalent education level as a minimum

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Physical fitness and the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, as the role may require

• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality workmanship

• Reliability, punctuality and a professional attitude towards work

• A willingness to learn and take direction from senior technicians and supervisors

• A valid driver's licence or the ability to arrange transport to and from the Newcastle work location

• No prior experience necessary – full training will be provided as part of your apprenticeship
