About the role
About WAUCThe Western Australian University Consultants (WAUC) is a student-led management consulting charity that provides consulting services to not-for-profit organisations and charities. Our consultants work on real organisational challenges, helping clients strengthen their operations and increase their social impact.
WAUC has previously worked with organisations including OzHarvest, St John of God Health Care, RSPCA, R U OK?, Scitech and the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
The opportunityJoining WAUC provides students with practical consulting experience that complements their university studies and prepares them for future professional opportunities.
As a Student Consultant, you will work in a small project team to help a not-for-profit or charity client solve a real strategic, operational or organisational challenge. You will conduct research, analyse information, participate in client meetings and turn your findings into clear, evidence-based recommendations.
As part of WAUC, you will receive:Hands-on experience working directly with real clientsWeekly training in core consulting and professional skillsWorkshops delivered by consultants from leading firmsMentorship and guidance from experienced industry professionalsAccess to WAUC’s network of students, alumni and industry partnersOpportunities to progress into Project Lead or Executive positions
WAUC’s industry partners include Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, McKinsey & Company, Accenture, Deloitte, Nous Group and other leading consulting organisations. These partnerships provide access to professional training, mentorship and industry insights that extend beyond the university classroom.
Successful applicants will begin their first project in Semester 1, 2027 and can continue with WAUC in future semesters. Returning consultants can work with new clients, gain experience across different projects and pursue leadership opportunities within the organisation.
EligibilityApplicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate university program and actively studying during Semester 1, 2027.
Students must also be able to participate in project, training and client commitments throughout the semester. Applications are encouraged from students across all universities, degrees and disciplines.

Previous consulting or professional experience is not required. Experience gained through employment, university projects, volunteering or student organisations may be beneficial, but we are primarily looking for capable and motivated students who are eager to learn.
