About the role
Positive Behaviour Support starts from a simple idea: behaviour makes sense. Our job is to understand what a person is communicating, help change the conditions around them, and build the skills and supports that give them a better quality of life. It's beautiful work: time with families, with support workers, with the person at the centre, until the plan fits the actual life it's meant to hold. Maidstone and the inner west is where we're doing more of it.
Day to day, that looks like:
Getting to know a person properly: home visits, observation, and time with the people who know them best.
Functional behaviour assessments: working out what's driving a behaviour and what it's doing for the person.
Writing behaviour support plans people will actually pick up and use, then coaching families and teams while they put them into practice.
Collecting and analysing behavioural data, and turning what it tells you into practical strategies.
Working alongside schools, day programs, GPs, OTs and allied health (you're rarely doing this on your own).
Discovering, more often than you'd think, that the "challenging behaviour" was the most reasonable response anyone had to a genuinely ridiculous situation.
We're Bespoke Behaviour, a national, NDIS-registered PBS practice dedicated solely to person-centred, evidence-based behaviour support. We work in person, over telehealth, and in a blend of both, right across Australia, while holding onto the responsiveness and personal care of a smaller practice. National governance, national systems, and supervision pipelines that plug you into some of the sharpest thinking in the field, all grounded in dignity, curiosity and collaboration.
And a Maidstone detail worth knowing: the directors who run the whole national practice sit right here in Melbourne. Up the road, hands on, people whose names you'll actually know and whose doors you can actually knock on, backed by a national practice that stays hyperlocal where it counts.
Now we're making room for one more.
About youYou come at behaviour with curiosity: you want to understand a person before you plan for them.
You're good with the people around someone: families, support workers, teachers, the whole team.
You bring experience in Positive Behaviour Support, behaviour assessment and intervention planning, with a person-centred, trauma-informed approach.
You can collect, interpret and use behavioural data to inform your clinical decisions and write plans that are clear and usable.
You communicate well: you can explain complex ideas in accessible language and write high-quality reports.
You manage your own caseload, meet deadlines, and work effectively across community settings.
You're committed to ethical practice, human rights, cultural safety and continuous learning, including engagement in supervision and professional development.
You'll also need:
Minimum Bachelor-level qualification in a cognate discipline (psychology, social work, occupational therapy, speech pathology, applied behaviour analysis, counselling).
Eligibility or registration with relevant professional bodies, and compliance with NDIS behaviour support requirements where applicable.
A Working with Children Check, or a willingness to get one.
An NDIS Worker Screening Check for this role (we'll help you sort it if you don't have one yet).
A current driver's licence and the ability to travel locally for participant visits.
We're looking for a full-time Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join us across Maidstone and Melbourne's inner west. You get the steadiness of a big, well-run organisation and the closeness of leadership who are genuinely local to you.
We want someone here for the long game. Someone who wants to build a career, be supported properly, and do work that matters next to people who genuinely love what they do. Grow with us, and we'll grow around you.
