Operations Officers – Maintenance

Regional Livestock Exchanges (RLX) focus on developing regionally significant modern livestock facilities within strategic locations, chosen for stock numbers, transport efficiency and long-term sustainability.

Central Queensland Livestock Exchange (CQLX) formerly known as the “Gracemere Saleyards” commenced operations in January 1953. The saleyard is situated 8 kms west of Rockhampton on the Capricorn Highway leading to the Central Highlands and the Central western centres of Barcaldine, Blackall, Longreach and Winton.

RLX commenced management of CQLX in 2010. CQLX is regarded as one of the best stud selling facilities in the country, attracting over 20 Stud Bull sales per year including prestigious Breed Society sales showcasing the best of Queensland’s genetics over multi-day sales.

Key tasks, duties & Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on site assets including equipment, machinery to ensure optimal functionality.
2. Facility Repairs: Address and resolve infrastructure and mechanical issues to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for livestock.
3. Preventative Maintenance: Implement preventative measures to minimise downtime and extend the lifespan of plant and equipment and facility infrastructure.
4. Collaboration: Work closely with the management team to understand their needs and provide timely support while assisting with efficient and effective sale days operational maintenance as required.

 Job Requirements:

• Proven experience in plant and equipment maintenance.
• Light fabrication and welding experience.
• Knowledge of plant and equipment such as loaders, tractors, feed mixers 
• Knowledge of pumps and livestock watering systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic, challenging and rewarding environment.
