Production Engineer - Manufacturing

Due to continued growth and an expanding pipeline of new products, The Cruiser Company (TCC) is looking for a Production Engineer – Fabrication to join our engineering team.

TCC is a fast-growing Australian manufacturer of premium 4x4 accessories. We design, engineer, prototype, test and manufacture our products in-house at our Melbourne facility.

The primary focus of this role is taking new products from design through to production, ensuring they are ready for efficient, consistent and repeatable manufacture.

Working closely with our Engineering Manager, design engineers and production teams, you’ll help turn new product concepts into production-ready products, processes, tooling and documentation.

Your primary focus will be getting new products production-ready, including:

• Taking new products from prototype through to production release

• Reviewing designs for manufacturability and recommending practical improvements

• Producing and finalising production drawings and Bills of Materials

• Developing manufacturing methods and production processes for new products

• Designing jigs, fixtures and production tooling

• Supporting prototype builds, production trials and first production runs

• Working directly with fabrication and assembly teams to identify and resolve production issues

• Ensuring new products can be manufactured efficiently, consistently and to the required quality

• Updating CAD models, drawings and documentation following production feedback

• Supporting the handover of new products into ongoing production

• Contributing to continuous improvement of existing products and manufacturing processes

We’re looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals and a practical understanding of how fabricated products are made.

Ideally, you will have:

• A degree or relevant trade qualification in engineering

• 3–5 years’ experience in a production, manufacturing or fabrication engineering environment

• Experience with sheet metal and fabricated products

• Experience taking new products from design or prototype through to production

• A strong understanding of processes such as cutting, bending, welding, machining and assembly

• Experience with 3D CAD using Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks

• Experience producing 2D production drawings and Bills of Materials

• Experience designing jigs and fixtures

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Excellent attention to detail

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with engineering and production teams

Experience with FEA would be advantageous, as would experience in automotive manufacturing or a genuine interest in 4x4 products.
