ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
We're looking for a Permanent Full Time Employment Consultant to join our Workforce Australia team in Mt Druitt.
The Salvation Army actively supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through our partnership with Reconciliation Australia, an active Reconciliation Action Plan, and an embedded Cultural Competency and Capability Framework. We are committed to creating a culturally safe and welcoming workplace and offer additional support through our Burra Burra Support Network and virtual yarning circles.
Looking for a role where you can grow, feel supported, and make a genuine impact? At Employment Plus, you'll help people build confidence, overcome barriers, and achieve sustainable employment outcomes. Based at our Mt Druitt site, you'll provide quality engagement with local First Nations People helping build confidence, skills and job readiness.
This is an identified position and is open only to people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. The Salvation Army considers Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Islander identity a genuine occupational requirement under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
What you'll be doing
A key focus of this role is the provision of strong engagement and post placement support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander jobseekers and employers to facilitate retention and sustained employment outcomes.
About you
If you're organised, resilient, a strong communicator and able to build rapport quickly, you'll thrive in this role. A current driver's licence is required for this position.
What we offer:
As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employee, you can join our Burra Burra Network, connect regularly with our Salvation Army Territorial Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Team, have access to Sorry Business leave, and a dedicated Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander EAP Service. But most importantly, feel safe and supported when at work.
As an employee of The Salvation Army, you are also entitled to benefits such as:
Whether you're an experienced Employment Consultant or looking to transfer your skills from customer service, community services, education, HR, recruitment, retail leadership or another people-focused field, we'd love to hear from you. We provide comprehensive training, ongoing support and clear career development opportunities to help you succeed, regardless of whether you're new to employment services.
The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people. We value people of all cultures, languages, capacities, sexual orientations, gender identities and/or expressions. We are committed to achieving a diverse workforce and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The Salvation Army is a child safe organisation and is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. All child facing roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check or relevant state equivalent. Applicants for all roles require a mandatory National Police Check.
We value Integrity, Compassion, Respect, Diversity, and Collaboration.
Apply now and complete the online application including a cover letter addressing the above requirements. Your cover letter can be uploaded alongside your resume, or as one document.
