About the role
Position Title: Civil Engineering Technician
Sola Now Pty Ltd, trading as Sunterra, is a leading Australian company specialising in the wholesale supply, installation, and engineering of large-scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects. With strong partnerships across key manufacturers and contractors, Sunterra delivers cost-effective, high-quality solutions for utility-scale solar and energy-related construction projects across Australia.
We are currently seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Technician to join our on-site project team in Western Australia, supporting the planning, design, and delivery of large-scale construction and solar infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings, plans and layouts for utility-scale solar farms and associated infrastructure, including roads, drainage, earthworks, foundations and underground services.
Develop and revise civil drawings based on engineering designs, survey data, project specifications and construction requirements.
Assist Engineers with site plans, grading plans, drainage layouts, trenching arrangements and other civil works.
Interpret engineering instructions, construction specifications, survey information and technical documentation to determine dimensions, levels and construction details.
Collect and analyse site data and construction measurements, and perform calculations required for civil drafting and design activities.
Assist with estimating quantities and material requirements for earthworks, concrete, road base, drainage and other civil infrastructure.
Check drawings and construction documentation for accuracy and compliance with engineering standards, project specifications and contractual requirements.
Participate in site inspections and field testing to verify site conditions, construction dimensions, materials and completed works against approved drawings and specifications.
Coordinate with engineers, surveyors and construction teams to update drawings, incorporate design changes and prepare as-built documentation.
Assist with identifying and documenting construction defects, maintenance requirements and remedial works.
Requirements
Relevant Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma plus 1 year of relevant experience. Alternatively, at least 3 years of relevant experience can substitute for the formal qualification.
Ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, authorities, and internal teams.
Strong organisational skills and ability to work under project timelines and site-based conditions.
Commitment to workplace health and safety and quality assurance practices.
Willingness to work on-site in West Australia and travel to project locations as required.
Salary and Benefits
Annual salary from $80,000 to $100,000 plus superannuation.
Full-time permanent contract.
