Head Pastry Chef

Lavie&Belle Bakery is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Pastry Chef to lead our pastry team at our Rose Bay bakery.

We are an authentic French artisan bakery and pâtisserie, passionate about traditional French products, quality ingredients and creating beautiful pastries that taste as good as they look.

We’re looking for someone who is not only a highly skilled pastry chef, but also a strong leader who can take ownership of the pastry section, organise production and lead the team day-to-day.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the pastry team, ensuring smooth and efficient daily production
• Plan and organise production schedules according to business needs
• Prepare and oversee the production of our range of cakes, tarts, individual pastries and other French pâtisserie products
• Maintain consistently high standards of quality, presentation and taste
• Train, support and supervise pastry team members
• Work closely with management on new products, seasonal ranges and special events
• Monitor stock levels, place orders and ensure ingredients are available for production
• Manage food costs, portion control and minimise wastage
• Ensure recipes, processes and presentation standards are consistently followed
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation standards
• Help create a positive, efficient and professional working environment within the kitchen

About You

• Minimum 8 years' professional pastry experience
• Previous experience in a Head Pastry Chef, Lead Pastry Chef or senior pastry position highly regarded
• Strong technical knowledge of French pâtisserie
• Confident leading, organising and motivating a small team
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills
• Able to manage a busy production schedule and prioritise effectively
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency
• Reliable, hands-on and comfortable taking ownership of the pastry department
• Passionate about quality products and traditional French pâtisserie

Important

• Full-time position
• Tuesday to Sunday, one Sunday off every 2 weeks
• Early morning starts are mandatory
• Rose Bay location — please check your travel time and early-morning transport options before applying
• September start
