About the role
We are seeking a patient, confident and experienced Disability Support Worker to support an 11-year-old boy living with the impacts of a severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), ADHD, ODD and PTSD.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a Support Worker who enjoys working with children and can build a strong, positive relationship while providing consistent support with emotional regulation, routines, community access and daily activities.
The successful candidate will be someone who can remain calm and composed during challenging situations and understands that behaviour is often a form of communication.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuild a positive and trusting relationship with Atticus.
Follow Atticus’s Positive Behaviour Support Plan, routines and visual schedules consistently.
Support emotional regulation and recognise early signs of escalation.
Respond calmly and confidently to challenging behaviours, aggression and meltdowns.
Use positive reinforcement, clear boundaries and choices to encourage appropriate behaviour.
Provide close supervision to maintain safety, including during community access and around other children.
Supervise internet, device and screen use in line with his safety plan.
Support appropriate personal boundaries and social interactions.
Maintain clear communication with the care team and report incidents or concerns.
About you:
Experience supporting children/young people with complex behaviours
Calm, patient and confident managing challenging behaviours
Strong understanding of positive behaviour support
Reliable and consistent
Essential Requirements:
Certificate III/IV in Disability, Individual Support or Community Services
Current WWCC, NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid & CPR, Police Check
Driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and comprehensive insurance
