About the Community Safety and Compliance department
Bringing together four specialised teams, the department works across the municipality to ensure Glen Eira remains a safe, accessible and welcoming place to live, work and visit:

• Civic Compliance: Administers Local Laws and Animal Management services, helping to maintain community amenity and responsible pet ownership.
• Parking and Safety: Delivers parking enforcement services and manages the School Crossing Program to support road safety and the efficient use of public spaces.
• Appeals and Business Support: Provides essential administrative and customer support services, including the assessment and management of disability and residential parking permits.
• Public Health: Protects and promotes community health through environmental health services, including regulatory inspections, education and compliance activities.

About the role
We are seeking a proactive professional to support the department in improving business processes, strengthening governance, and ensuring compliance with legislative and organisational requirements.

Reporting to the Manager and working closely with the leadership team, you will develop and maintain policies, procedures and compliance frameworks, provide advice on policy and process matters, and contribute to projects that enhance service delivery and organisational effectiveness.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing, reviewing and maintaining policies, procedures and compliance frameworks.
• Mapping and improving business processes to support compliance and efficiency.
• Leading system configuration, optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Managing policy review and renewal schedules.
• Coordinating internal consultation and approvals for policy and procedural changes.
• Monitoring legislative and regulatory changes and providing practical advice on impacts and compliance requirements.

About you
You are an experienced governance, policy or compliance professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You have the ability to interpret legislation, develop practical policies and procedures, and provide clear, confident advice to a range of stakeholders.

The following is also required:

• Tertiary qualification in public policy, governance, law, business administration, information systems or a related discipline, or extensive relevant experience.
• High level understanding of governance, risk and legislative compliance within a local government or public sector context.
