Project Engineer

About the Opportunity

De Martin & Gasparini, one of Australia’s largest and most experienced concrete supply, pump and place subcontractors, are actively recruiting an experienced Project Engineer for our South East QLD projects. We’re looking for a driven and experienced Project Engineer to take a leading role in the successful delivery of our construction projects. Working closely with the Construction Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving program performance, ensuring technical excellence, and maintaining strong commercial outcomes, all while leading and mentoring a high-performing site team. Based in Staplyton, QLD, the Project Engineer will support a range of projects and be required to travel to project sites across South East QLD.

Your day will involve:

Project Planning and Coordination

• Develop and manage detailed project programs, resourcing plans, and project execution plans.
• Coordinate and monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with design, schedule, and budget.
• Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
• Lead and manage construction sequencing, temporary works, resource allocation, and technical interfaces between disciplines.

Technical and Engineering Management

• Provide high-level engineering input and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage design coordination, including RFIs, design reviews, and value engineering opportunities.
• Ensure technical compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Oversee quality assurance and control processes, including inspections, test plans, and handover documentation.

Project Delivery and Performance

• Drive project progress and proactively identify risks or delays, implementing mitigation strategies.
• Ensure all project deliverables meet contractual, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Support the Construction Manager and Contracts Administrator in preparing and updating progress reports, forecasts, and performance reviews.

Commercial and Financial Management

• Assist in developing and managing project budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
• Identify and evaluate variations, claims, and commercial opportunities.
• Ensure subcontractor and supplier performance aligns with contract requirements and financial targets.
• Contribute to project procurement strategies and tender evaluations.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in a project engineering or delivery role in the building and construction industry
• Strong technical understanding of civil or building construction, in particular structure trades
• Experience managing project resources efficiently to meet budgets, programs and quality standards.
• Proficiency in project management software.
