We have an opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager, to join our team. In this leadership role, you'll provide strategic commercial oversight across a portfolio of major infrastructure construction projects, ensuring strong commercial outcomes throughout project delivery. You'll be responsible for commercial strategy, contract performance, contractual governance and the management of complex commercial and contractual matters, while partnering closely with project teams, senior leaders and key external stakeholders.

Leading a small team, you’ll play an important role in building capability, driving consistency and supporting the successful delivery of projects through the construction phase and into operations.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

• Lead the commercial management of a portfolio of major infrastructure construction projects.

• Develop and implement commercial strategies that maximise value and support project objectives.

• Provide commercial advice and recommendations on significant contractual, commercial and risk matters.

• Oversee contract performance and commercial outcomes across the project portfolio.

• Lead and develop a team, supporting capability development and high performance.

• Manage claims, disputes and complex contractual issues in partnership with internal stakeholders and legal teams.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers and key stakeholders.

• Drive commercial governance, controls and compliance across project delivery.

• Support the transition of projects from construction into operations, including contract close out and handover activities.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and stronger commercial outcomes across the portfolio.

You don’t need to check every box; however, we’re looking for a good combination of:

• Degree in Law, Accounting, Commerce or related discipline

• Minimum of 10 years’ Commercial contracts experience. Including demonstrated accountability for the commercial performance of large-scale, complex, high-risk infrastructure projects during construction.

• Extensive leadership experience in managing and developing a commercial team, with demonstrated ability to build capability, drive accountability and develop a high-performing commercial team. 

• Strong track record in negotiation and commercial management of large-scale infrastructure contracts under a range of complex delivery models.

• Demonstrated success negotiating and resolving complex, high-level contractual matters achieving favourable outcomes with key internal and external stakeholders.

• Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to communicate complex commercial matters clearly and concisely.

• Advanced negotiating skills and influencing ability.

• High level of commercial acumen with an ability to clearly assess risk and implement mitigation measures.

• Demonstrated success in delivering outstanding customer service, and development of strong and positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and peers.
