About the role
Build a career that grows with the community
Start your career maintaining and improving the buildings and facilities our community uses every day. As an Apprentice Painter, you work alongside qualified tradespeople preparing surfaces, applying paints and protective coatings, using tools and equipment safely, and helping maintain a wide range of Council buildings and assets. Each day brings hands on work and opportunities to learn a recognised trade.
You learn through a combination of practical experience and formal study. Working under the guidance of experienced painters, you follow instructions, assist with maintenance tasks, develop safe work practices and build your skills through day to day work activities. As your experience grows, you take on more responsibility and continue developing your trade knowledge.
The work you complete helps keep Council buildings and facilities well presented, protected and maintained for staff, residents and visitors. Every project contributes to the appearance and longevity of community assets and supports the safe operation of places used across Blacktown City.
This is a paid 4-year apprenticeship. During the first 3 years, you complete a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating while receiving on-the-job training. Your fourth year focuses on practical experience. Throughout the apprenticeship, experienced supervisors and qualified tradespeople support your development as you build the skills and experience for a career in the painting and decorating industry.
This role suits someone who enjoys hands on work, pays attention to detail, is willing to learn, takes pride in their work and wants to develop practical skills.
