The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP) Register of Interest | Prosecutors allows admitted Prosecutors to register an interest in opportunities with the CDPP. 

About the CDPP

The CDPP is Australia’s federal independent prosecution service established by Parliament to prosecute alleged offences against Commonwealth law. We aim to provide an effective, ethical, high quality and independent criminal prosecution service for the nation in accordance with the Prosecution Policy of the Commonwealth. 

The CDPP is a small, agile federal government agency that offers a dynamic working environment focused on important legal outcomes, with ten offices located across Australia. More details can be found at the CDPP website.

There are five litigation practice groups at the CDPP which conduct criminal prosecutions in nominated crime types. The work is challenging and rewarding and provides career development opportunities for prosecutors with criminal litigation expertise.

In addition to entitlements under the CDPP Enterprise Agreement, the CDPP Prosecutors are entitled to an additional allowance as part of their salary package, which varies depending on their level of seniority. Please refer to the Determination Prosecutor Allowance for more details.

About the Register of Interest | Prosecutors

The CDPP can engage from this register via:

• Ongoing and Temporary Transfer opportunities under Section 26 of the Public Service Act 1999; or
• Non-Ongoing opportunities for an initial period of up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total period of 18 months.

The CDPP Prosecutors have a wide range of skills, capabilities and experience, sourced from government agencies (Commonwealth or State) employment and/or from the private sector. 

There are three levels of Prosecutors within the CDPP:

• Federal Prosecutor (APS 5 and APS 6 equivalent)
• Senior Federal Prosecutor (Executive Level 1 equivalent)
• Principal Federal Prosecutor (Executive Level 2 equivalent)

All employees at the CDPP are required to obtain/maintain a satisfactory police check and an AGSVA Baseline security clearance (higher level for specific roles). Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
