About the role
About the Opportunity
Crawford is seeking an experienced Marine Surveyor to join our specialist Marine team in Melbourne. Reporting to the National Marine Manager, you'll investigate, assess and adjust marine, cargo, transportation and liability losses, managing claims from first notification through to settlement.
This role combines office and field-based investigations, stakeholder engagement, technical report writing and claims settlement, while supporting the delivery of exceptional client outcomes.
We would also consider someone with hull or cargo experience, or a combination of the two to compliment our existing teams’ skillset and experience.
About You
You are a technically capable marine professional who thrives on problem-solving and delivering practical solutions. You bring strong communication skills, commercial judgement and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, insureds and industry stakeholders.
An important component of the role will be supporting marketing and business development activities, so you’ll be confident meeting new people, building rapport and developing strong relationships across the marine and insurance industries. You’ll be personable, proactive and comfortable representing Crawford and identifying opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and develop new ones.
Key Requirements
Experience as a Marine Surveyor, Marine Claims Assessor or related specialist role. Knowledge of marine insurance, cargo, transport or liability claims. Understanding of marine legislation, conventions and INCOTERMS, or a willingness to develop this expertise. Strong report writing and investigation skills. Relevant industry qualifications (or willingness to obtain). Australian Driver's Licence and ability to obtain an MSIC card.
