Accountant

Gratifying Care Pty Ltd is a growing provider of aged care, home care and community support services committed to helping people maintain their independence, wellbeing and quality of life. We provide flexible and cost-effective services including clinical nursing, personal care, domestic assistance and community support delivered by trained and dedicated staff.

As our organisation continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Accountant to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

About the Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Accountant will play an important role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organisation and ensuring that accounting, payroll and financial administration functions are completed accurately and on time.

This is a hands-on accounting role covering general accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, reconciliations, financial reporting, cash-flow monitoring and compliance support. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team, HR and operational teams and will have the opportunity to improve financial processes and systems as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Manage the day-to-day accounting functions of the business.
• Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and post journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments as required.
• Perform regular bank, credit card, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Monitor income, expenditure, cash flow and financial performance.
• Assist management with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Identify financial discrepancies, investigate variances and recommend corrective action.
• Maintain appropriate financial documentation and audit trails.
• Assist with year-end financial reporting and provide information to the external accountant and auditors when required.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

• Manage accounts payable, including processing and review of supplier invoices and ensuring timely payments.
• Manage accounts receivable, including client invoicing processing and monitoring outstanding receivables.

Payroll & Superannuation

• Process fortnightly payroll for approximately 85 employees, and ensure payroll is processed accurately and within established deadlines.
• Process PAYG withholding, STP reporting requirements and superannuation.
• Liaise with HR and management regarding new employees, terminations, leave and changes to employee conditions.

About You

• Minimum 2 years' relevant accounting or finance experience.
• A Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping.
• Sound knowledge of Australian PAYG, STP, superannuation, GST and BAS, IAS, Payroll tax, TPAR requirements.
• Experience in preparing and assisting with year-end reconciliations, statutory reporting and compliance reporting.
• Experience in NDIS, aged care, home care, disability or community services will be highly regarded.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
