Achieve Something Great
As a Casual After-Hours Counsellor with the Sexual Assault Service, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, trauma-informed support to people affected by sexual assault. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the delivery of timely crisis intervention, psychosocial support, advocacy and care coordination, helping to ensure clients receive safe, responsive and person-centred care. This role is critical to maintaining the service's 24/7 response capability, supporting improved client outcomes and ensuring access to specialized care across the district.

We are seeking experienced and compassionate clinicians with strong assessment, crisis intervention and counselling skills, and a commitment to delivering trauma-informed, person-centred care. The successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to work independently in a responsive after-hours environment, communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and manage competing clinical priorities. Flexibility and reliability are essential, as casual staff are required to be available to cover shifts across a 24/7 roster from Monday to Sunday. Candidates should be committed to supporting positive outcomes for people affected by sexual assault and contributing to a high-quality specialist service.

Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification and is authorised under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.Relevant qualification/ registration in one of the disciplines outlined in the position description.Please confirm your availability to work casual after-hours shifts across a 24/7 roster. This includes availability to work overnight shifts commencing 5pm on weekdays from Monday to Friday as well as day and evening shifts on weekends and public holidays. Please outline any restrictions to your availability.Describe a time when you provided crisis intervention, assessment and support to a client experiencing significant distress. What was your approach, and how did you ensure the client's immediate safety and wellbeing?Describe your experience working independently in an after-hours or on-call environment and how you manage competing priorities while maintaining high-quality, trauma-informed care.Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
