About the role
THE ROLE:
The Adviser, Security Governance and Operations is a key member of Austrade’s Global Security Operations team and is responsible for enhancing security culture across the agency.
The position provides expert advice on protective security policy, obligations, and the development of training and awareness content. Working closely with business areas, people leaders, external vetting agencies and government security partners, the role supports Austrade’s compliance with the Australian Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and contributes to a mature and proactive security culture.
The successful candidate will lead security risk assessments and assurance activities, contribute to policy development and drive initiatives that strengthen Austrade’s security culture. The role requires sound judgement, strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to balance security requirements with business outcomes.
DUTIES INCLUDE:• Providing protective security advice to employees, managers and executives across Austrade.
• Establishing processes for regular, ongoing engagement with Post and Facility Security Officers.
• Developing, reviewing and implementing protective security policies, procedures and guidance materials.
• Conducting protective security assessments and recommendations to support risk-informed decision-making.
• Developing, reviewing and delivering security awareness, education and engagement initiatives that enhance Austrade’s security culture.
• Monitoring compliance with the PSPF and supporting internal and external security assurance activities.
• Monitoring and reporting on protective security matters.
• Preparing high-quality briefs, submissions, reports and responses for senior executives and governance committees.
• Identifying opportunities for process improvement and contributing to the ongoing maturity of Austrade’s security capability.
