Senior Network Engineer

Azooa is preparing a backfill response for RFQTS 17219 – C4DASI Routing & Bearers Foundational Design and is seeking a suitably qualified Senior Communications Network Engineer – Routing & Bearers / Defence C4 Design. This is a senior Defence engineering opportunity supporting the development of foundational C4 design guidance and technical interoperability across the Joint Force. The role is suited to a Level 3 Advanced Practitioner or Level 4 Expert with strong experience across WAN routing, network transport, SATCOM, RF technologies, C4 architecture and systems engineering.

About the Role

You will work within the Foundational Design team to support the development of the Joint Force C4 Systems of Systems and key communications requirements for future Defence information exchange. The work package focuses on:

Routing: network and transport development, security, protocols and standardsBearers: satellite and RF technologies used in a military contextDevelopment of logical, functional and physical C4 architecture solutionsTechnical interoperability across Defence and coalition environmentsSystems engineering and Model Based Systems EngineeringArchitecture views, standards profiles and technical visualisations

The work supports Joint Force design for the 2029–2033 epoch, including mission areas such as Electromagnetic Manoeuvre Warfare, Multi Domain Strike, Undersea Warfare and Integrated Air and Missile Defence.

Responsibilities

Develop Foundational C4 Design guidance to improve information exchange and technical integration across the Integrated Force.Lead reviews and updates of C4 design guidance.Develop WAN, routing, transport and communications system requirements.Apply strong knowledge of the OSI reference model, particularly transport through physical layers.Apply specialist knowledge of WAN standards and protocols, SATCOM and RF technologies.Develop logical, functional and physical architecture solutions.Apply systems engineering and mission engineering methodologies.Develop As-Is and To-Be architecture views.Apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) up to SECRET classification.Develop C4 Systems of Systems models and visualisations.Collaborate with Defence Group and Service stakeholders.Support Defence programs and projects in applying C4 design guidance.Collaborate with standards teams to formalise design guidance into standards profiles.Support submissions and briefs to senior Defence governance forums.Identify improvements to C4 Design methods, processes and repositories.

Pay range and compensation package

Azooa recommends candidates bid below the maximum where commercially viable to strengthen overall value-for-money positioning.

Pty Ltd: up to $157.93/hour + GSTPAYG / Individual: up to $155.93/hour including super

Candidates submitting below these rates may improve the commercial competitiveness of their bid. Higher rates may still be considered where specialist SATCOM, RF, C4 Systems of Systems, MBSE, Defence domain experience or higher clearance strongly supports the value proposition.
