Here’s What You’ll Be Up To…

As a Field Operator – Labourer, you’ll play an important role in maintaining and improving our public spaces and civil infrastructure across the City. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same.

You Will

Operate a range of plant, tools and equipment across public space maintenance and civil works including roads, drainage, cleaning and waste servicesCarry out routine checks and basic maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operationalPerform manual labouring duties across civil construction and maintenance activitiesSupport traffic control activities where required and maintain safe work sitesDeliver excellent customer service to the community and represent Council positivelyWork collaboratively with your team and contribute to a productive and safe work environmentFollow WHS requirements, Council policies and legislative standards in all tasks

You Will Bring

Experience in general civil labouring or a similar hands-on environmentA strong commitment to safety and understanding of WHS principlesThe ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members and the publicA positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and take on varied tasksA White Card (Work Safely in the Construction Industry)

The must-know bits

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements

Essential

General civil labouring experienceAbility to work as part of a teamDemonstrated ability to communicate effectivelyAbility to deal in an appropriate manner with the general publicWork Safely in the Construction Industry (White) CardKnowledge of and commitment to WHS and EEO principles

Desirable

Tertiary qualification in Civil Construction or related areaCompetency in the use of various plant itemsCurrent Traffic Controller cardCurrent Class C driver licensePrevious experience in Local Government
