About the role
Hepatitis B significantly impacts Filipino people in Australia and can cause serious liver damage if left unmanaged. Our team works to provide access to comprehensive liver health testing, including hepatitis B testing, for free to multicultural communities across Sydney. Hepatitis NSW is a not-for-profit health charity that delivers programs that help to improve the health and wellbeing of communities affected by hepatitis B and C.
Hepatitis NSW is looking for some new additions to our Filipino hepatitis B team for upcoming events. The role involves engaging with community members and assisting them through our processes to complete liver health screening with the team. It is a key role within the program and our casual staff a valuable part of the team. This work will be on a casual basis with work only a few days availability required per month.
This role involves working with a large, vibrant, diverse, and fun team to deliver liver health screening to multicultural communities across Sydney. Our casual staff team are an important part of the event and perform a number of roles on the day. This includes:
No previous experience or qualifications are required for this job. All tasks associated with the role will be taught as part of comprehensive, paid training that Hepatitis NSW will provide. Support and development will also be ongoing. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about the health of their community, are comfortable engaging and working with community members, and want to be part of a hard-working team delivering important health care.
Having Tagalog fluency is not required for this role but is certainly a bonus. This role is currently only available to people who work within the Sydney metropolitan area. Applicants must be able to travel across Sydney. Travel will be paid for by Hepatitis NSW.
Hepatitis NSW has a number of additional roles within the organisation that may become available upon completion of training for this position. This includes working on the development of in-language resources, help with translation, community education, and attending events and festivals to promote liver health messages.
