We are seeking a Chemist/Lab technician to join our technical team in Welshpool.

This is a hands-on role working closely with Production, R&D and Technical Services to ensure our raw materials, in-process products and finished goods meet Crommelin's quality and the relevant Australian Standards.

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

• Conducting quality control testing of raw materials, production batches and finished products.

• Performing physical testing such as viscosity, density, solids, adhesion and drying time.

• Preparing samples, test panels and specimens for laboratory and performance testing.

• Supporting waterproofing testing to relevant standards, including AS/NZS 4858 and AS 4654.1.

• Recording and reporting test results accurately and maintaining traceable laboratory records.

• Assisting Production with batch adjustments, troubleshooting and root cause investigations.

• Working as part of a team to complete R&D trials, product development and continuous improvement.

• Operate and maintain specialised equipment such as tensile testers, ovens, environmental chambers, and immersion systems.

• Maintain traceable, audit‑ready records consistent with ISO/IEC 17025 expectations.

• Ensuring laboratory activities comply with WHS, chemical handling, quality and environmental requirements.

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable, analytical and highly detail-focused.

Ideally, you will have:

• A qualification in Science, Chemistry or a related discipline (Degree, Diploma or Certificate IV), or significant relevant laboratory experience.

• Experience in a laboratory, quality control or manufacturing environment.

• Strong practical laboratory and testing skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.

• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

• Full unrestricted working rights in Australia.

Experience with paints, coatings, adhesives, waterproofing, industrial testing, ISO/IEC 17025 or Australian Standards will be highly regarded.
