About the role:
The Compliance and Risk Senior Officer contributes to the strength, safety and regulatory readiness of Barunga Village by supporting effective compliance, risk, emergency management, business continuity and organisational assurance systems. This part-time role aims to strengthen organisational accountability by supporting the identification, documentation, monitoring, follow-up and escalation of risks, compliance obligations, corrective actions and emerging issues. Through practical guidance, reporting and action tracking, the role supports managers and staff to embed a proactive compliance and risk culture into day-to-day operations, helping Barunga Village deliver safe, compliant and person-centred services.
Responsibilities of the role:
The Compliance and Risk Senior Officer works across Barunga Village to coordinate and monitor compliance and risk systems, including risk registers, compliance registers, action plans, incident and hazard follow-up, emergency management, business continuity, psychosocial risk documentation and related reporting. The role operates semi-autonomously within established frameworks, applying judgement to identify gaps, trends and unresolved risks, follow up responsible officers, support preparation of reports and escalate significant matters to the Director of Operational Services.

Person specifications
Essential qualifications and experience
Relevant qualification in risk management, compliance, governance, quality, business administration, health services, aged care or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in compliance, risk, governance, quality, audit, administration or a related function. Demonstrated ability to maintain registers, action plans, reporting systems and compliance documentation accurately and efficiently. Demonstrated understanding of risk management and compliance principles. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, summaries, minutes, action plans and professional correspondence. Strong organisational skills and ability to coordinate competing priorities, deadlines and follow-up actions. High attention to detail and ability to identify gaps, inconsistencies, risks and improvement opportunities. Ability to work collaboratively with managers, staff and stakeholders across different service areas. Sound computer skills and confidence using business systems, spreadsheets, document management systems and reporting tools. Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, continuous improvement and Barunga Village’s values.
Desirable qualifications and experience
Experience working in aged care, health, community services, retirement living or another regulated sector. Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards and aged care regulatory requirements. Knowledge of retirement village compliance obligations. Experience supporting risk registers, compliance calendars, audits, emergency management or business continuity processes. Experience preparing committee reports, dashboards or governance documentation. Knowledge of psychosocial risk management principles. Experience using risk, quality, incident management or compliance software.

Conditions
Must provide a NDIS worker screening clearance that is dated not more than five years old to enable the assessment of whether the employee is suitable to provide care under the Aged Care Act. This clearance must remain updated by the employee during the contract period. Must comply with Barunga Village’s immunisation policies and procedures at all times.
Must sign a statutory declaration to identify that have never committed any serious criminal activity outside of Australia. Must not be included on the aged care banning order register. Must comply with Barunga Village’s Code of Conduct.

Current motor vehicle licence is required. Some out of hours work may be required from time to time to meet business needs. The role may be required to work across Barunga Village locations.
